airline blanket etiquette and who made US Airway's or was it United's
Hi,
A couple of questions about airline blankets. I have seen a few references lately on travelers' personal web sites to take the blanket with you when leaving the plane.
Is this polite to do? Do you do it with asking the FA's? Or is it not a thing to do, ever??
Only one time have I really wanted an airline blanket. A trip on US Airways (or maybe it was United, I don't really remember, now) about 10 years ago was the lightest, softest, coziest blue fleece thing anyone could want.
Would dark blue be US Airways or United? Any chance of getting one these days?
Thanks.

I still get blankets on AA in F domestic. I usually toss them up in the open bin and in most cases the folks boarding after, in Y, grab it during boarding.
but I agree with rkkwan, don't try to take one, at least not visibly, but if you were to pack it in your carry on, well....???
I'm not suggesting....just so you know

yeppers, they aren't anti-static either - they like to cling on you, even when you disembark!
Lands End's anti-static microfleece throws are heavens better. In last Lands Ends order that I did for myself and the office there were 10!!

I can't really think of any good reason to keep an airline blanket. They really are pretty nasty. If you really want one, Walmart and Walgreens sells some inexpensive ones for about $5 which are better than the ones on the airplanes.

Thanks for the interest in the thread.
I didn't know how many airlines had blue blankets
This blanket was terrific, thought as noted it was 10 years ago, so today's might be totally different quality.
Thanks, BlueSea, for the tip about Lands End. I'll check there.
I'll also try GoAway's idea and look around at the pashminas.
Cheers.

Are you guys kidding? I took an AA pillow from domestic economy last year and use it every night on my bed at home!!! It's to die for, I love it!
I didn't know we weren't supposed to take them. I just HAD to have it.

scot - I purchased NAP travel blankets for my family when we traveled to Europe last summer. I purchased them at Brookstone and LOVE them... well worth the cost - I think airline blankets in general are just gross. jmo.
