Flew Toronto-Lisbon & return Faro-Toronto with them in October. Flight from Toronto was delyed 1 1/2 hours initially, held up another hour and a quarter while a wanted felon (and luggage) were located & removed from the plane. Stops in Porto (way there) and Lisbon(way home) were much longer than announced. Food was not bad, movies entertaining, and the FA's both ways were polite & friendly. I don't know if this one point is about the airline in paricular or if it's a natural occurrence on flights of longer duration, but, toward the last couple of hours of each flight, the bathrooms reeked of stale urine.
Hope this helps.
ja

I have flown on Transat. I know you will be seeing this by the time you return and that's why I am sending this note late. Presuming you have returned safely, it is one of the worst charters I have ever been on. They are frequently delayed, sometimes due to missing crew! The airraft are poorly maintained and the experiences with the washrooms are not unusual on this airline. One time, my wife and I had to actually TIE our seatbelts on since the buckles did not work. The pilot also had to pull over for a while during the taxi because he had to wait for the oil to stop pooling and to circulate properly in the engines ("a normal occurrence on this type of aircraft" according to him... the 1st I ever experienced that on an L1011).

I would rather pay more money than fly them. Bring back Wardair!

Ohmigod, FT, I remember Wardair vividly and fondly! I am Edmonton-born and raised, and I think that Max Ward offered the finest air service this country will ever see. Alas, those days are gone!
ja

Indeed, Wardair was the most outstanding charter I have ever taken. It was well priced, with excellent service, and the newest of equipment. The staff were also outstanding of course. I would love to see Wardair or a reasonable facsimile resurrected.
Hi
well thank you for saving message till i got back. because i may have cancelled flight for nothing! i rather enjoyed the flight (especially compared to canada 3000 previously, lots of delays, no explanation). mind you i wont say air transat was perfect, but we landed precisely 5 pm as we were supposed to, very important as this was new years and had to get ready for a party! but fun began after we landed, everyone was standing up waiting to exit when the announcement came on that they couldn
t get walkway connected to plane, so finally after half hour they fixed it. in puerta vallarta i asked for window seat (3 seats together) and we ended up 3 seats together but in the middle section, hard to see movie screen way at the front, had to almost sit so strait up to see it (and im 5'6"). about the washroom, when were about to land the stewerdess opened door (maybe to make sure no one passed out or so) she made this funny face as she looked down to the toilet area, then a steward walked by and she showed him. so at that point you wouldn't have been able to pay me to use that facility! but thought the flight attendants very friendly and food was not too bad, for an airline.
