Air One, Italy's only private airline will start transatlantic service
Starting June 14, Air One will start flying from Milan to Boston and Chicago.
I have heard good things about the airline. They will also codeshare with UA so earning miles with UA is possible.
From lift-off Air One passengers will be immersed in Italian culture, thanks to Italian cuisine, in-flight entertainment offering Italian films and with onboard outfitting that guarantees maximum relaxation, making the flight an authentic "Made in Italy" experience.

Contrary to this thread's title, Air One is not "Italy's only private airline": there's also Meridiana, Eurofly, Volare, Windjet and more. Eurofly also operates scheduled transatlantic flights from JFK to several Italian destinations.
Air One IS Italy's second largest airline after Alitalia however.

FF to Italy--what is your favorite and go-to-first airline choice for America to Rome (Italy). I'm looking for last-minute low airfare but willing to pay more for a positive and relaxing trip. I'm traveling alone and in that special group called "seniors." So comfort and stress-free (well, I know that's not totally possible) is my top priority. Thanks for the advice.

Just heard on the news today, the Air One service Boston-Milan will be postponed for at least a couple of days. Some issues with getting seats on the planes I believe.
Can't they still operate the planes with standing room only?
They have rebooked all the pax on other airlines in the meantime.
