Air France FOID requirement

When I purchased two AF tickets recently there was a screen where the buyer could check "use credit card as identification on checkín." Although I did NOT check the box, my confirmation showed that I should use the card as a FOID identification when we check in for the flight. Well, I can't, as I made the purchase with a virtual card number.

So...after about an hour I got a live person at the AF technical support site; she told me that purchases made on the U.S. site are exempt from the FOID requirement.(The tickets are for Paris/Nice RT.) So what if we show up to check in and find out that we do in fact need to use the card?

I sent an on-line message to Air France about the problem; the acknowledgement promised a reply within 48 hours. It's nearly a week now, and no response. What to do next?

I certainly had no problem last October and have never, ever heard of this in the U.S.

We never had any problem flying from Paris to anywhere on AF. We fly frequently to other European and African destinations. Nobody ever asked us to show credit card. Passports are always sufficient.

Thanks very much; that's a real relief.

can you clarify "virtual card number"? if i'm correct, tickets ticketed in the U.S no longer require that, but to be safe, is there any proof (in writing) that associates you (your name as it is on the passport) with the card?
