Air France 777

I am planning to fly on an Air France 777 soon. I've heard both positives and negatives about the 777 (and read them on this site).

I would be interested to know what other people's experiences were on this plane and where they would sit. The only seats left are right behind the wing and in the back of the plane - which would be better?

The 777 is a wonderful new plane by boeing. The seating is 3,3,3, and very comfortable. There are no bad seats so don't be that concerned about where you will be sitting. I took a 777 from Newark to Rome and was very nice. The planes are less than a year old so everything is not beat-up yet. Just hope there are no crying childern next to you and you will be pleased with the flight. Good Luck, Buck

I've had some poor journeys with the 777.

Some carriers (british Airways for example) have a 3x5x3 layout on some longhalls with appalling leg room . Don't rely on an airlines reputation - ask them about legroom when you book.

Also the 777s seem to have a faulty air circulation system - crews and passenegers have been getting sick on them.

The Airbus 340 is best aircraft I have ever flown on - suggest you try it if you can.

Ask them about the leg room when you book....as if it would make a difference! Since I don't have the privilege of choosing (I do by price only) I can't be choosy.

I've flown BA several times and have no problem with them whatsoever. The 777 from Boston to London is absolutely wonderful.

Their 747 is equally okay.

Thanks to all for your responses.
I booked the trip by price and the flight selection by the plane. It was either the 777 or the 747-400. I heard about the 777 with the entertainment systems, so I had to try it!

I originally booked the very very back of the plane hoping no one would sit back there so I could stretch out - but when I heard the back of the plane might be very loud, I opted to move up a little (albeit not much).

Does anyone know if the back of the plane is truly louder than the rest of the plane?

Thanks!
