Air Canada

I haven't flown that route but any flights I have had with Air Canada haven't been great. Not bad but not great. I would call them a mediocre airline in terms of service, courtesy, etc. As I haven't flown them at all since they purchased their only competitor, Canadian, and since they no longer have any competition, I don't know if they have gotten worse or better. My guess would be that they haven't improved. They are certainly not on a par with airlines such as BA, Qantas, etc.

I flew Air Canada for the first time and thought the airline was ok but I hated Toronto Airport. I have been in a lot of airports and this was one of the worst. The gate numbering system is very confusing, some of the monitors don't list the gates for the flights, it is not well marked and you don't know where to go. If you ask, you are very rudely treated. One departing flight was 45 minutes late because the catering truck hadn't arrived, another late because the garbage people hadn't arrived, another because the toilets hadn't been emptied. Our arriving flight sat because there wasn't anyone at the gate and the pilots thought that maybe they had been told the wrong gate.My other choice for a connection was Chicago. Could it really be worse?

Harvey, While I have not flown the Toronto>Paris flight you are asking about I have flown recently through Toronto to Rome. Your post did not mention whether you were flying "Executive Class" or "Economy". Which one is it? The flight I did from Toronto to Rome was in executive class and it was just fine. The flight attendants were courteous, the food edible, the flight departed and arrived on time, and the movie selection was adequate. I had no gripes.

I've flown Air Canada domestically and internationally and I can say that the level of service and food (in my opinion) is better than that of American carriers. I have also flown BA, Alitalia, Air France and Virgin and can say that Air Canada is on par with their service and seating space in the economy section of the aircraft.

Just a closing note to "Traveller" . . . if you haven't flown AC in well over a year then why would you waste your time posting a reply which is full of guesses and asumptions?

I do agree with Susan aboout pearson Airport . . . a disaster with no amenities for a long layover. It is one of the worst airports I have had to spend time in, in fact I rank it up there with the old airport in Athens, Greece. Make your stay their as short as possible and pray that the rennovations get done on time.
