AF 772 Business Class?
In my "old age" I have decided to fly only business class to Europe. I have flown Delta and BA and have been happy with both.
I am going to Paris with a friend and have talked her into sitting up front although she would rather save money and sit in coach. Now I feel the pressure of making sure she has a good experience. She has plenty of money, BTW; she just would rather spend it in other ways.
The best return time for us would be Air France on a 772. I can't find any information about the 772s. Are they comparable to 777s? Better? Worse?
Thanks.

Well, since you give out all the details that has nothing to do with your question,
, I guess I can comment on those too.
Why do you force her to part her money in a way she doesn't want to? What's wrong with you fly in business and she flies in coach?
Sorry, but I don't understand.

Thanks for your replies. AAFF, that makes sense!
rkkwan, I should have phrased my comment better. I told her I was booking business elite and she could chose what she wanted, but I would not sit in coach. She then decided to sit with me rather than be in coach. She has more money than God but her priorities are not the same as mine. It was her decision and it wouldn't have mattered to me if she did sit in coach.
I'm not really a tyrant and I would have sat in coach with her if she couldn't afford business class.

When are you thinking of going?
I don't believe that any of Air France's 772's have had the premium cabins retrofitted yet. I may be wrong and perhaps one or two are already in the process or completed, but the chances that you'll encounter one of the retrofitted cabins is slim to none at this time.
The old business class cabins on Air France are outdated and seat pitch is poor. The seats themselves are really showing their wear and don't have as much recline as Delta BE. Service is OK and nothing particularly stands out for me.
Maybe if all your friend has ever flown is coach, she'll be happy with it, but I feel that it falls short compared to other business class products, so I definitely wouldn't push her toward this option since she's already stated that she'd rather save money and sit in coach.
If you end up on an AF 772 anyway, my suggestion is to try to get a seat in row 4 in the forward business cabin. This is the bulkhead row and at least you'd have more legroom without anyone reclining in front of you.

Thanks for your input, Patty. I had checked flyertalk and other sites and saw photos of AF's old and new business seats and I wouldn't be happy with the old seats. I will just stick with Delta on both legs. Now I have to hope Delta is still flying in June!
And rkkwan, you are right; that was too much information!

British Airways allows you to upgrade one way. Does Air France? You could fly Business over and coach back. Flying over is a night flight. Returing is a day flight. This way you will be rested (or toasted) in Europe and will be looking forward to sleeping in your own bed when you get home.
