Seems stupid that he is frisked because his name is on a database of potential terrorists.

However, I can see why he might be frisked under regular circumstances. What would stop an lunatic adult hiding something on a child.

Children have already been used as suicide bombers on many occasions, so it is risky not to search them just as adults are searched. Indeed, the bad guys use children because adults are often unwilling to believe that children could be a danger.

My daughter uses a wheelchair, and last we flew I was actually upset with the minimal amount of security she had to go through. This is a crazy world and just because a passenger is young, or seems to be disabled does not mean they could not pose a threat.

Obviously, it's not that screeners think an 8 year-old is capable of being a terrorist. However, a trusting child or senior could be used as a "mule":

What's super scary about that article is the man who had a name similar to someone on the list, but then he changed his name and stopped getting flagged. Doesn't that indicate a terrorist could do the same thing?

That's right! I wear long skirts, so it usually takes a few minutes to wait for a female employee to pat me down. Not a big deal, really!
