6.5 hours layover in Frankfurt

I'm flying SN from Brussels into FRA, landing early morning to catch an AA afternoon flight to ORD, giving me a 6.5 hour layover there.

A. How's the terminal connection between these flights?

B. Any idea of what to do there in FRA during those 6.5 hours? I managed to get on Business Class for both flights, so is there an AA BC lounge there? Any "attractions" there, or nearby to spend my time?...

Thanks!

Both SN and AA use Terminal 1 (the main one). It's a bigg-ish one with three wings but screens and signages are well posted, not too complicated. You'll go through passport control before getting to AA gate (as Brussels-F'furt part is within Schengen zone).

I haven't used AA business lounge--I'd check them but assume they should have one. Usual airport shops and restaurants there.

With 6.5hr connection, you can probably get out of the airport and go to Frankfurt proper (about 20min or so on S-bahn, S8 or S9 if I recall). Though not much you can do in terms of "attractions"--probably the best bit is seeing the city skyline as you cross the river on the train.

There's an Admiral's Club lounge near the walking bridge connecting the Sheraton Hotel with the airport. The connections are pretty easy, even though FRA is very spread out but as mentioned the signage is very easy to follow. We've never had problems navigating the airport. The shops, restaurants, and duty free are pretty extensive. I tend to agree that even with that amount of time, it may not be worth it to go into the city.

Just to add - I travel alot internationally, and since I so rarely actually arrive at my interim destination on time, I consider 6.5 hours to be a good layover time.... . I would go to the lounge, and plan on a relaxing day (get lunch, etc)..

Thanks much.... If there is a place for AA Business Class travelers to spend some nice time, I'd do that rather than take a train to the city...

With the weak US Dollar I can only guess that those extensive Duty-Free shops are for sightseeing, rather than contemplating the purchase of anything....

Mainz is also close, about 20 minutes by regional train.

Further away is Heidelberg. ICE trains every half an hour to Mannheim, then switch to S-bahn. Under an hour each way from airport.

Now that I'm back, here is my tip for the "future generations".... I had a really hard time finding that Admiral's Club... I didn't use that name but was asking for AA's business lounge. One policeman at the border control, after making a long phone call, sent me straight to United's lounge.... I ended up passing thru border control TWICE and thru security THREE times (which in FRA in particular is NOT the most pleasant experience.......)...

Finally they explained to me that I need to get to TERMINAL C which is where AA's gates are.

But once I got there, it was nice... Not as nice as AA's business lounge at LHR, but I could even TAKE A SHOWER there, which was very well appreciated...

On my 7 hr. layover in Frankfurt, I took a 20 min. train ride to Mainz and went to the Gutenberg Museum.

Mainz is a sweet little city with a nice town centre and lots of shops and cafes.

Next time you're flying AA in J or F through LHR, forget AA AC or even the FL. Both in need of serious refurbishment. Instead go to JAL or CX lounges, both slices of heaven with JAL lounge the best of the 2 but unfortunately not open until 3pm. The CX lounge is open all morning and is very quiet.

The 2 LHR AA lounge operations need serious work. JMHO.

btw, it's always a good idea to check for AA AC locations on this page:
