Our itinerary:

Sep 5 - Rovos Rail Pretoria to Cape Town
Sep 7 - 14 - Cape Town, Hout Bay, Hermanus, Stellenbosch
Sep 15 - Cape Town to Windhoek, pick up driver
Sep 16 - Cheetah Conservation Fund - Babson House
Sep 17 - Etosha, Ongava Lodge
Sep 19 - Damaraland - Grootberg Lodge
Sep 21 - leave driver and fly to Sossuvlei, Sossuvlei Dessert Lodge
Sep 23 -overnight Windhoek
Sep 24 - Cape Town, Richards Bay, transfer to Phina Vlei Lodge
Sep 26 - transfer to Ngala Tented Camp, Kruger area
Sep 29 - return to USA

Thoughts, suggestions are welcome.

I was able to make a reservation. I had to call CCF in the US to get the right contact info, but that worked.

Our stay at Babson House at CCF was outstanding. Total Cheetah immersion!

Your itinerary looks great. You could expect cool to cold weather in Johannesburg / Prtoria, and cold and most likely wet weather in Cape Town. Namibia will most likely be dry and cool in the evenings but already getting warm during the day. It is spring-time in the Kruger, so temperatures will also be cool at night but warmer during the day, and you may have early rains at that time of the year already.

For people planning self-driving trips to Namibia, check out the very practical and visitor friendly Namibia Road Map (www.namibia-raod-map.com) with complete accommodation guide. The locations of all accommodation establishments in Namibia are indicated on the detailed maps, and their contact numbers are listed on the list pages. Now visitors to Namibia can see at one glance all accommodation available in the area they like to visit. The map brochure is also available as a eBook to download.
