I am going on an Australian "safari" in December 2009, visiting Tasmania and Kangaroo Island. Its not Africa, but it will at least be a wildlife-centric trip report. Also visiting Vanuatua and New Caledonia on that trip.

Well here it is 9 sleeps to go, this has got to be the MOST planned trip in history!
A big thanks to everyone on Fodors for their help and patience over the past few years.
I just want to say, before you all do, that yes I’m tragic! I’ve been packed since before Xmas, bag weights in at 11.4kg,
Most important thing I have to leave at home is my warped Aussie sense of humor, other than that everything’s all good. Knees have been replaced, ankles fused, nearly mastered squatting!

My husband and I leave April 7 for South Africa and Botswana. Our first safari ever will be Botswana:

9-10 April Fly, Fly, Fly Livingston-Joburg, wait 8 hours, miss the Seattle non-stop flight in Amsterdam due to schedule changes, rebooked via Minneapolis – awful schedule now, but worth it only for Afeeeekah!!!! Arrive SEA 7:00PM on the 10th.
A Five Rivers Safari booked with Journey Beyond in Johannesburg. Norman Carr, Sausage Tree & Tongabezi booked directly with the camps. Here's my itinerary at a Glance:
Fri 13-March -- Depart SEA on NWA non-stop to AMS
Sat 14-March - Depart AMS on KLM non-stop to Joburg

15 March - Fly via Maun to Deception Valley
2 nites Deception Valley Lodge
17 March - Fly to Moremi Game Reserve
2 nites Xakanaxa Camp
19 March - By boat in the Okavango Delta
2 nites at Kwara Camp
21 March - Fly to Kwando Lebala for 2 nites
23 March - Drive to Kwando Lagoon for 2 nites
25 March - Drive & Boat to Caprivi Strip, Namibia
3 nites at Susuwe Island Lodge
28 March - Drive to Mambova Rapids
3 nites at Ntwala Island Lodge

31-March - Road & boat transfer via Kasane to Livingston; fly to Mfuwe via Lusaka
4 nites in South Luangwa NP, Zambia with Norman Carr Safaris: Kapani & Kakuli camps
4 April - Fly to Jeki, Lower Zambezi NP
2 nites at Sausage Tree camps
6 April - Fly to Livingston & Vic Falls
