Petra and Mountain Gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda
Recently came back from a whirlwind trip that had us in Jordan and visiting with the mountain gorillas on both sides of the border.
In Jordan we visited Petra and Dana Nature Reserve. Then we went on to track the Nkuringo group in Uganda and Group 13 in Rwanda. Fantastic stuff.
I've posted some of the better photos and trip notes on my site. It can be rambling at times. And maybe the jokes aren't that funny, but hopefully it might be helpful and interesting to some!
If you want to read about top to bottom about the trip:

To drill down on Jordan:

And to drill down on the mountain gorillas:

Any questions or comments, please let me know! I always find the trip reports here incredibly useful in my planning/dreaming. Cheerio.
p.s. this trip ended in Kyoto, Japan...but I'm still working on that final portion of the report. Did I mention this was a bit whirlwind?

Interesting combo, with three very interesting places (I've visited all three, albeit on different trips -- it would be tough for me to compartmentalize, but I understand the attraction of an RTW ticket). We may have overlapped in Petra -- I was there the weekend of May 15. Thanks for sharing -- also great presentation.

I may have just missed you as I was there the 18/19. Crazy small-ish world.
Agreed re: compartmentalization! Leaving Uganda we were especially scratching our heads about going to Japan next. In the end, it was a very nice change of gears.
Plus with limited vacation time from work, we wanted to make the most of things (thanks to said RTW ticket).

You got some great views and photos. Thanks for the update on Clouds Mountain Resort. When I first heard about it, I didn't care for the idea. When the angle about it being locally owned and benefitting th local community was emphasized, I warmed up to the idea, even though I didn't think I'd go personally. Your account makes it seem like many others are not going personally either.
Sorry about your glasses but if that was the worst casualty of the trip, it was a good one.
