Help need Itin advice for Kenya/Tanz July

I impetuously bought air tix to Nairobi for July 8-July24. Works out to 16 days excluding travel days. We are a group of eight. Thinking a little safari time + a little beach time- either zanzibar or mombasa. Suggestions for itin, anyone? Now I am also freaking out because we need to do it fairly economically... one of our group is on a budget. Any suggestions appreciated.

You might contact Nature Expeditions in Nairobi. They are a reputable safari operator who has a lot of different itineraries and could work with you. www.natureexpeditions.com.

Thanks- I will check them out. Does anyone have a point of view on Mombasa/Lamu vs. Zanzibar?

How budget is budget? The fact that you have a group of 8 would make a driving itinerary fairly cost effective as you have more people to spread the vehicle cost among. You'll probably want two vehicles for your group size. On the other hand, you may have more difficulty securing multiple rooms/tents.

I'd also advise that you proceed cautiously with recommendations from posters who only have a few posts mentioning the same tour operator. You can click on a poster's screenname and see his/her prior posts.

Good luck!

Sunny Safaris

I agree with Patty. A group of 8 offers an excellent opportunity for reduced costs.

Don't delay!

Thanks for the suggestions. I wanted to ask about the driving sitch. I believe tho not sure that the migration is in the Grumeti area in July. And then we'd love to go to the Ngorogoro crater. Is it feasible to proceed to Dar Es Salaam by car? Or better to fly out of Arusha to our beach destination?

Dar Es Salaam is a long drive from the northern circuit in Tanzania. Better to fly out of Arusha/Kilimanjaro.
