Hard believe our next adventure is starting....

The house is packed.
Most everything is in storage.
And it's hard to believe, but in less than a month I will be living in Luanda, Angola!!!!

I know Angola isn't a tourist destination, but I hope to be able to add more current advice/recommendations for southern Africa!!! Happy to be able to add input on someplace other than Egypt!!!

Ahh !!! Bless your heart Grcxx3 !

How come you are moving there from Houston (I think)?

Have a nice trip and give us a report after you settle down there.

Bon Voyage

Grcxx3-I just googled directions. It's only about 3300km to Kruger National Park in South Africa. You will be so close.
Have a safe trip to your new home. Looking forward to hearing about your new adventures. Isn't the internet great?

It's going to be quite interesting. And I know it will be difficult/stressful/frustrating at times - but I think we're going to have fun!

If nothing else, there will be some great stories to tell and write about!!

Hope you have high-speed internet! Good luck with this next adventure (spoken by someone who's lived in the same house for 25+ years!)

Best of luck!

Are you completely bouncing off the walls? I'd think you'd be at that scared/excited stage right about now.

sf7307 - there is internet, but not sure how hi-speed it is. DH is there now and says it's slow, but who knows.

sandi - that song is whirling thru my head all the time.

Iowa_Redhead - bouncing off walls does not even begin to cover my situation right now. Would love to be excited about this new chapter in our crazy lives, but I'm having MAJOR homeowner issues.

Came into the house this morning to wait for the carpet cleaning guys and found that the A/C drip pans had broken (old and evidently rusty), lots of standing water in the attic, and water dripping thru ceiling. Fortunately, the carpet guys also do restoration work, so they switched gears and tore out the sheetrock, pulled out all the wet insulation, vacummed out the standing water, set up blow fans and a dehumidifier dry it all out so no mold/mildew starts to grow. Had I not come to the house today, the whole ceiling would have collapsed.

Now I have the A/C guys coming tomorrow morning to redo the drip pans/drain lines in the attic. Gotta get someone out to put up new sheetrock, then repaint the ceiling. THEN....the carpet cleaner guys can come back.

Calgon...take me away!!!!!!!!

Grcxx3 - Oh no! Sorry for such hassels. I guess the positive side is that the carpet cleaners could get things started quickly and you are on your way? Hope is goes smoothly.

Yikes Grcxx3!!

Good luck with all of those fixes. On the upside... you did find the issues before they became major and could get to work right away getting things fixed.

To keep myself from crying, I just focus on how lucky I was to catch the problem and have people on hand to deal with it.

Oh, and the margaritas are helping, too!

Took pictures of the giant hole today and realized that it very closely resembles the shape of Africa.

Rather ironic!
