Drive Through Swaziland Worthwhile? Spend a Night?
We will drive from Nelspruit/Kruger to Hluhuwe and then back to JNB to catch a flight a few days later.
Think a drive through Swaziland on the way would be worthwhile? Is the border crossing?
Or on the way back to JNB perhaps it would be worthwhile to spend a night in Swaziland?
Any advice?
Thanks!

We went from Phinda to Kruger via Swaziland and stayed at Royal Swazi Sun Hotel, Ezulwini which was excellent.
The drive was scenic and the market right next to the hotel was very interesting.
Coming from SA's East coast going to Kruger that's a very good route.
I would do the drive again in a heart beat.
Going straight wouldn't be possible as it's too far and driving after dark/before sunset is a NO NO!

Thanks SV.
Took you two days nice slow drive?
I was thinking of perhaps driving from JNB to Swaziland, stay night there, next day look around some, stay another night Swaziland, then next day drive into Kruger. How do you think that would work? What would you see in a full day there, any ideas?
Thanks again.

I can't help on that one as it wasn't our intention to spend more time than necessary in Swaziland.
We REALLY enjoyed the leisurely drive thru very scenic landscape and the stop-over enroute.
We didn't do any side-trip/excursion.
I have no information on parks etc. within Swazi so I cannot comment whether that would be worthwhile.
For sure it's in no way considered waste of time driving via Swaziland although I am not sure whether I would want to dedicate more (safari)time to Swazi than necessary for the drive-through.

Topping this very old topic...
Am trying to decide if this would be an interesting option, heading south from Lower Sabie in Kruger, spending 1 night in Swaziland en route to St. Lucia in KwaZulu Natal.
I still need to figure out the cost differential, no flight but a one way car rental and approval to drive through Sw...
