hi Rocco! I would have booked months ago but then a few friends decided they wanted to come too after hearing about all my plans so I had to re-arrange a few things to suit everyone. Fingers crossed the lodges wont all be booked.In hindsight i would definately use a travel agent that deals with the lodges directly (not sure of any in Australia though, I'll have to look into it), that's something I'll know for next time . Cheers..

The world is a much smaller place now with the emergence of the internet.
I am in Los Angeles and my last safari was booked with a South African agent, Taga Safaris, and my current safari is split between a British agent, ATR, and a New York agent, Africa Serendipity. As far as my own clients go, my first customers have ranged from the UK, to Los Angeles, to Hawaii to Australia...all I need is an Asian client and then I will have circled the globe!
There is really no price advantage to dealing with anybody on your own continent. Wire transfers are relatively cheap, and with wire transfers you can avoid credit card charges, foreign currency conversion fees, etc.
Ultimately, and I practice this as a consumer, you should go with the agent that you have the most confidence in dealing with. You may get a certain comfort level in dealing with an Australian agent, or you may feel that Australia is a little light in the qualified agent department and want to look to the UK, the USA or Africa next time around.
Ultimately, however, although it must be stressful, I am sure that your trip will come together. I try to make it a practice NOT to travel with family and friends...too many bad experiences and I will not make such mistakes in the future in dealing with inexperienced travelers.

Couldn't agree more. The effect of the debt cancellation should be significant on the lives of the people of Zambia. I was referring to the thieving, corrupt, pieces of human debris that have passed for Africa's leadership for half a century.
I trust that countries receiving debt forgiveness will take a more prudent course (and the lenders) in the future.
