Wildcard
We just worked out it would be cheaper to get an International Wildcard rather than pay the (increasingly pricey daily conservation charges). Problem is we are less than 3 weeks away from our trip so there isn't enough time to buy on the Wildcard website and get the card thru the international post (we are in the UK). I've googled in vain but cannot find any solid information about buying an International Wildcard on the spot when when we arrive at Kruger. I've emailed the Wildcard people but so far no reply, and everything I see seems to be geared up to buying on-line - please help.

Confirm Gritty, we were Kruger in Aug-Sep, bought Wildcard at the entrance gate (Phalaborwa). FWIW, daily park fee would have been close to $20 (non SA resident), Wildcard was around $100 for year, but we only needed it for 7 days. But think they raised prices again Sep 1.

Ooops, minor correction, we entered at Phalaborwa gate but they did not hit us for park fee until we checked in at our first camp, Letaba. Also, they have road speed limits and like to check your speed with radar (and fines) as you leave the park. Thus easy to collect your fine at the exit gate. (Been there, done that).

It's about time they really started cracking down on speeding in the Park. Of course, the worst offenders that I've seen are the various people who are working in the Park (truck drivers, road builders, etc.).
I also got my WildCard at Phalaborwa. Back in 2005 they had a kiosk at Kruger/Mpumalanga International Airport...not sure it's still there.
