white water rafting companies

I am leaving in 10 days to Zambia, botswana, and Namibia and plan to go rafting in Zambia before going on the safari tour to bots and Nam. What rafting companies have people used and liked? I found Cholwe's website, but are there others? I'm staying at the Bush Front Lodge in Zambia and would like to just stay on the Zam side if possible. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Heather

I think Shearwater only operates from the Zim side, but Safari Par Excellence operates from both the Zim and Zam side.

I had a fantastic white water experience with Bundu adventures on the Zambia side....you should be able to ask your lodge for booking assistance!

The Bushfront Lodge is actually owned by Safari Par Excellence so they will try and push them. However, Bundu Adventures has/had the best reputation for safety when I was there.

wow..great. thanks so much everyone.

Can you pay by credit card? Do the tour companies pick you up at the hotel or do you meet them at their offices?

Is it custom to tip the guides and do they prefer US dollars to local currency?

Yes, CC they accept... our lodge, Songwe village guide took us to the white water station for safety briefings, check in etc etc., from memory there is a half day trip and a full day trip. But, i think the half day is plenty....just the climb into and out of the gorge is pretty good exercise in itself!

Enjoy
Hari

saf par will pick you up at your hotel and yes, tip the guide or raft captain and U.S. dollars are fine on either the Zam or Zim side.

Thanks so much everyone. One last question, Safari Par would like me to book and pay now, but i honestly don't know how i'll feel after flying for so long, so was planning to book once i'm there. Does anyone forsee a problem with waiting til the day before to reserve/book?

Hi there,
We booked with Shearwater as we stayed on the Zim side. I had it all booked for the days we wanted extra and paid when I got there. I dont think they will turn away business so I am sure you could book when you get there. Cheers Georgie
