Weather in Capetown and Kruger in September

We are thinking about a trip to South Africa in early September. What is the weather like in the Kruger National Park and in Capetown at that time of the year? Thanks.

I was in Kruger and Cape Town over late August (Kruger) and early September (Cape Town). Kruger was usually warm (70-80 degrees F) during the day, but we did have 1 or 2 overcast days, and one big windstorm with dry lightning that started a bunch of fires. Mornings can be a bit cool (50's F).

September in Cape Town is supposedly NOT the best time of year to visit. It was sunny the 3 days we were there but had just missed some rainy days. It was cool there (50's during the daytime) and we had to wear jackets all day, but we had a good time. We were told that September is the best time to visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens because the plants are in bloom. I would highly recommend a visit there if you go in September.

We were in Capetown and Sabi Sands (it borders Kruger) during the first 2 weeks of September, 2009. It was quite cold,in the high 40's/low 50's, rainy and windy. Most afternoons, the sun came out and it warmed up into the low 60's. Although we'd booked hotels with beautiful pools, and saw gorgeous beaches, never once got to swim. On any other vacation, this would've been a major disappointment, but there were so many things to do and see, that I was able to cope. Just prior to the trip, researching their weather forecast, I made a quick trip to REI and bought some Teflon coated, water repellent pants and jacket (Columbia brand), which I was very glad to have. I needed a hood, though, and ended up wearing a knit cap I'd bought for a souvenir for my son. Also, good to take along- a fleece top, and an insulated vest (both I got from LL Bean). At times, I combined the jacket, fleece and vest. On the safari, the early morning drives were cold and raining, but we were provided with waterproof ponchos. By afternoon, it was much warmer and more pleasant weather. There were no leaves on the trees, yet,so it was a good time of year for animal viewing. No place we went was dressy; every place is nice casual attire. And take plenty of things you can layer. Enjoy your trip!

Cape Town - think the Meditteranean in March. Never likely to be hot, but could be sunny and not cold. On the other hand it could rain the entire time.

Kruger - September is dry, great time for game viewing. Temperatures will start cold and will probably be comfortable low 70's during the day. Think layers on game drives.

There are clearly better months when weather is more predictable, well at least the chances for good weather are better in late Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb.
It can be nice and sunny with cool evenings but also windy/stormy, rainy = miserable

Krüger should be mild and warm up to 23/25°C during the days but cold morninggs and cool evenings.

But weather wise it''s becoming tricky to predict anything.

I would think of extending Kruger and postponing CT to another time/year/occasion.

Happy travels!
