Visas for Zambia

Hi. Has anyone had recent experience with visa requirements for Zambia? I read a 2008 post that indicated that the fee had increased to $135 for a 3 year visa, but this was being challenged by the tourism industry. Also, can you still get these at the airport? And, lastly, do you need to have additional passport pictures with you? (We're getting conflicting information about this last question). If it's important, we'll be staying 3 nights.

Thanks for any help.

I was just in Zambia this past June. I went there by road/boat from Kasane, Botswana. I got the visa at customs at my entry point, and I expect if you are flying in there would a customs at the airport.

The visa fee was $50. I was only going to be in Zambia for 3 days (2 nights), and was not planning on leaving and reentering the country. I am not sure if the fee is different if you do that. I was told by my TA and posters on this board to have exact currency per person.

enjoy your trip

It's rare that on arrival, presenting your passport with your photo, that you'll need photos for the Visa.

And, yes that Visa increase to $135, was soon reduced to realistic levels... $50 as amy shows.

Amy and Sandi,

Thanks for your help. This is just the info I needed. I'm happy about the $50 vs. $135!

Hi, correct, the visa fee is $50US. for singe entry, $80 for a multiple.
Visa can be obtained at any border. No photos needed, passport and face will do, cash only, exact amount, notes no older than 2004, must be in good condition NO tears, marks, tape. i.e. nearly new is best, old/damaged etc will generally not be accepted ANYWHERE in Southern Africa due to forgeries about.
