Thanks Ovenbird for spilling the beans! I am glad you were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of that elusive bird.

Pics from our October safari to Kenya's Masai Mara are finally up at www.pbase.com/deseml/kenya_2006_ ! Sorry for the 3 month delay -- things just kept getting in the way. But editing our pics and movie clips sure brought back some good memories. Unfortunately, this will have to tide us over until 2008, our next opportunity to return to Africa...sniff, sniff.

To cheer you up and get rid of those sniffs, what's up for 2008?

I liked your picture organization by animal type. The lion cubs were adorable and you caught the lion chasing the buffalo.

A perfect lilac breasted roller in flight. I love the colors in the red capped lark.

You picked time and location well for the migration by the looks of the photos. Thanks for including the one with the vehicles for reference.

The one month old ele was adorable. You hit it on the nose with sausages. That is what those hippos look like. A den of hyenas is always exciting, especially with the little ones popping out.

Thanks, atravelynn. Yup, those little eles were so cute with their pink ears.

We haven't talked seriously about 2008 yet. We are birders, as if you can't tell by the numerous bird photos, and among the places in Africa we'd like to bird sometime are South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Gabon. We've also been reading alot about the genocide in Rwanda and are keen on going there too. And then there's the rest of the world...too many places, so little time. But Africa keeps drawing us back, as well you know.
