"Agents spread this misconception that a lower priced property must be a big drop off in quality"- Pred.
And isn't it amazing how many people fall for this?...leaving aside those whose interpretation of 'quality' is always 'pampering luxury'.

Funny - i was browsing the WS game reports updates. Noticed that at Mombo, they now have a gym. I suppose, their clients really don't know what going on vacation is all about and intend to live the same lives they do at home!

hguy47 - try this link.
http://mala.us.resrequest.com/reservation.php?693+
If that doesn't work. go to their website. Then click on "the camps" then on the left side choose reservations (and enquiry form) Here choose online availability the international server. From there choose public users can access public availability from here. Hope that helps.
Now that I went through all that, you are right and apparently it only shows Rattrays now. It used to have all the camps (pre new website) Oh Well you can send an email and they will tell you. Sorry, Ann

To over-simplify my thoughts: I am extremely discouraged by this and it makes me sad for the people of Botswana. It seems like such a double-edged sword--bad for the (mom and pop) businesses and bad for the tourists. The more prices go up though, the less people will go--there has to be an end somewhere.
It just seems silly, and for what it's worth, I did get my booking at Mapula today and I can't wait to go to my little-known camp!!

mdlopez: sorry for the discouraging realities of the travel business but I think your thread turned into a valuable resource to help inform consumers.
I'm very glad to hear you stuck with what you wanted and will be visiting Mapula Lodge. I am sure you will absolutely love your experience there! With the stress of booking behind you the good part starts, focusing on the amazing safari ahead.
