Tipping my Guide & Driver in Jordan

Hi.

How much should I tip my guide and driver in Jordan.

I've read that the tipping is also not as fanatical than it is in Egypt for other service rendered, or, in some cases from what I read, "alleged service"!

Thank you.

Tip much the same as if in Egypt.
I never change my tipping guideline regardless the country. Only difference would be based on actual service prices whether I give more or less.

Tipping for "alleged services" as when in Egypt... ignore it and learn to say "lo shukran" (no thanks). This isn't as obvious when visiting in Jordan.

"I never change my tipping guideline regardless the country." Why not? Every country has different tipping customs - e.g. China and Japan you tip nothing. What if people from non-tipping countries took that attitude in the US? When in Rome, do as the Romans.

As I've heard from many friends who guide foreigners through the US and who come from non-tipping countries generally do not tip. However, as the OPinquiry, so too do some of these visitors inquire as to what is expected and do tip. And, nowadays, the Japanese are quick to appreciate a tip when offered, regardless the old custom.

Likewise, if I were visiting non-tipping countries, I wouldn't.

The reply was in response to countries where tipping is expected, especially in Egypt.

Can anyone give approximate amounts in Jordanian Dinars or USD that they tipped in Jordan??

Was it expected by everyone in Jordan?

Thanks

I'm from a non tipping country - Australia - yet I'll do what the country I visit dictates. In Egypt I am advised to give my guide $50LE a day.. per person, and I will do that. I'd like to know about Jordan costs too....

Can't help much with Jordan - my tour had a tipping kitty. In Amman I rounded the taxis up to the nearest JD.
