The Rwenzoris (Mountains of the Moon)

I know we've had a few folks on the forum who have climbed Kilimanjaro, including myself, but has anyone ever climbed the Rwenzoris in Uganda?
I may be doing the climb next year and am very interested in hearing from those who have.
Thanks~

LOL...you guys! Lynn, this one will be for Luca's foundation as well, The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. It's he who has the climbing bug but I may go along 'cause I really enjoyed trekking Kili.

The Rwenzoris are supposed to be technically more difficult than Kili, even though they're not as high. (Though the Western Breach climb the day before summiting on Kili wasn't an easy feat by any stretch.)

The above does not suffice for a report!

I considered this climb a few years back but opted for Toubkal in Morocco as it was not as remote.

I was told it is basically a trek. There is some use of crampons, but no roped glacial traverses due to dramatic glacial retreat. Minimal use of ice axe. Not even sure if axe would be required anymore.

There is rock scrambling. This would be more than the Western Breach which I didn't feel had any scrambling, really (I have climbed Kili twice).

It would be maybe 5.6 or 5.7 climbing - very basic and not roped.

Do you rock climb at a gym? If not, it may be beneficial to be comfortable for the climbing, and do it with crampons on, if they allow that. And practice downclimbing as well - do not rappel down.

Altitude is lower. I am sure you could manage it!
