Tanzanian Safari Operator Reviews
I am considering intineraries from the following operators: Sunny Safaris, Bushmen Expeditions, Park East Africa, Predators Safari Club and Leopard. Can anyone comment on the service, guides or vehicles of these operators?
Thanks for the help.

Hi connor, I have no firsthand experience with any of the mentioned operators, but I recall people on this board have used Sunny, Predators and Leopard in the past.
Start your research by looking through the New East Africa Trip Report Index that LyndaS has so industriously put together.

connor02, follow the lead Leely2 gave. The index has a wealth of info regarding various companies. I forget the year the new index began but I think our trip with Predators Safari Club in 2004 and for sure the one in 2002 may not be there. We used them via US-based 2africa.com and were very pleased. For 2005 trip to southern Tanzania we included them in the planning process but opted to work direct with Foxes to cut out the middle man so to speak. If you have specifics and/or would like to read our trip report from either of the early surveys will be glad to provide. Dick at [email protected]

hi connor02
i join the others about the fantastic i>NEWIndex by LyndaS.
Leopard is a giant, it means that anywhere you get a break-down, a substitute car (if needed) will be ready in a short time... (own experience).
But, they have so many driver-guides that the differences (in knowledge levels etc') are huge - better if you can get a driver-guide someone recommends

Connor,
I used Sunny Safaris last year and they were fantastic - no problems at all and very responsive.
We used a guide called Mapunda (Zebraman)who was an ex-parks ranger. He was also a very good driver and the 4WD was in good condition. Very knowledgeable and friendly. My 8yo daughter cried when it was time to leave him.
Cheers

If you are traveling to Tanzania a tour guide my friend and I have used, and would highly reccomend is Chadu Mlemero, his website is http://www.africansafarisexperts.com/ This guide was so knowledgeable about his country and it's wildlife, it was amazing! He had the greatest respect for the animals, and loved them dearly. He was more concerned with their welfare and was not interested in making a "quick buck" by not following the park rules (ie driving off the road). Characteristics like these are what keeps countries like Tanzania beautiful and well populated with wildlife, for all of us to have for many generations to enjoy. He was wonderful company, fun, interesting and sophisticated. Choosing his tour company is a sure step to a wonderful vacation! Marlene CooperNew York City
