Suggestions for half a day in Nairobi

At the end of our 2 week Kenya/Tanzania safari, we have half a day free in Nairobi before heading to the airport. We (senior couple) reach Nairobi Wilson airport around 12:30 PM and our outbound flight leaves 10:45 PM from NBO.
1. What would you recommend to us to spend this half day at Nairobi?
No parks, wildlife or museums please. We are looking more towards seeing things that local do...example :...a visit to the local market.
Bomas of Kenya ?

2. I'd assume Nairobi in general be a safe area, but still we are leaning towards the idea of hiring a local guide with car take us around.
Any ball park idea how much a local guide with car cost?
Where do we find such a local guide? Ask the hotel where we dump our luggage for the afternoon or are there agencies that deal with such short hire?
.

Thanks in advance!

We were in Nairobi for 3 nights in April before leaving on a safari. We found the city to be safe although our hotel, the Sarova Stanley, made a point to tell me to remove my necklace and earrings before going on a walk around the hotel area. The jewelry was inexpensive, costume type but they insisted I take it off so I did.

My husband and I took two tours while in Nairobi and enjoyed them both:

1. Nairobi: Historic and Modern Highlights Walking Tour English • 3 hours $54.18 for 2 people. I think we booked this through Get Your Guide.

2. Day tour with Kennedy. We went to the Giraffe Center and Karen Blixen House as well as a tour of Kobe Tough, a bead and jewelry making facility that benefits women. I believe this one was about $100 for the 2 of us. Our hotel arranged for this tour as Kennedy is a former employee.
