Suggested Reading pre-trip

Hi, I am so looking forward to our upcoming trip to Zambia, S Africa and Mozambique this February/Mrch. I can't read enough about these places, but you can only re-read the guidebooks so many times, so I've branched out and picked up some books, travel essays. So far, I've enjoyed paul Theroux's "Dark Star Safari" and Gavin Bell's "Over the Rainbow". I'd really appreciate any tips on other tomes from the Fodor's Africaphiles! Thanks, Ellie

I really enjoyed "A Primate's Memoir: a neuroscientist's unconventional life among the baboons" by Robert M. Sapolsky.

The Mark and Deliah Owens books are good reads, I think they have 3-4 out now-the latest is not the best, start with the first one.

There have been several good threads on this topic in the forum here. Search for "Gordimer" and "The Covenant" and you'll find them and also links to other threads.

I second "A Primates Memoir" and I have also just finished "A White Boy in Africa" - both very good reads.
