I've no direct experience but I work in the travel industry in the UK and Somak here is a specialist Africa/Safari company with a good name and reputation.

The proprietors are Kenyan as far as I know so presumably have a good understanding of their product.

Andy

I spotted your query as I was searching for information on Morocco. I travelled with my family to Mombasa with Somak last August. Most of the holiday was spent in the Mombasa Beach Hotel but the trip included a 'free' safari into Tsavo East and West. The minibuses actually seat 7 but as we were a group of 8 (2 families), we finished up with 4 in each of 2 buses. These buses had raising roof centre-sections so we were able to get uninterrupted views of the animals we encountered. Both of our drivers were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and they kept in touch with other drivers by radio, allowing a 'race' to join another bus that had found a rare sight. We stayed at the Voi and Ngulia lodges, which were both in absolutely wonderful locations. I have no reservations about Somak themselves.
