I'd take a scarf (muffler) too. I was in Sabi Sands last September (end), and although usually hot mid day, never at game drive time (or at least more than the first hour of the afternoon drive). I used fleece and muffler early morning and evening. The blanket really only sat on my lap. Weather forecasts were really only accurate for about the next 24-36 hours, not longer term.

As mentioned the early morning and late game drives in a moving vehicle with no doors can be quite chilly.

Take the fleecy and a scarf. Blankets for knees and even a hot water bottle will not keep your upper body warm.

I found the day time highs are during mid day when you're in between game drives and October is just the beginning of their warmer weather so you never know what you'll experience.

Better to be safe than sorry!

Have a wonderful time and we'll look forward to hearing all about it.

Thank-you Ekscrunchy!

The day time temperature out of the vehicle is not usually the worry, it is on the vehicle. So pays to be prepared. I can remember that September, it was so cold, my poor Dad had to wear socks on his hands, they were leopard socks which was his saving grace, as I had a few spare pairs of gloves for Mum, a niece and me! I think we all wore everything we had on each gamedrive!

Yes very interested in Tswalu - the pictures I saw were amazing, things I don't normally see, like an aardvark! Just hope I can get in, as winter I think may be a busy time for them!

Kind regards

Kaye
