I had no problem just pasting this link into my browser and there I was. Great stuff, Rocco! I love that one shot of the 3 eles looking quite noble. Also the fat little puppy. Nice leopard shot, bet you were happy that came out. Your color quality is very nice, esp. noticed that on the first few pics.
You saw a lot of hippo!

Rocco: I must admit that I got a bit apprehensive about your trip when I read your preliminary report, but after looking at your photos, my apprehension went out the window. You may not have seen a lot of lions, leopards, etc. but some of your landscape shots are just as worthy of your attention. Fantastic, Rocco! Thanks for sharing them with us. And as for those little butterball puppies, well, we have close to two acres of land for a couple to run around on ... Welcome home, young man.

Sorry it took so long but I just sent invitations to each Fodorite that has asked to be sent one.
I still have about 65 more photos to add but my DSL line at home is down and it takes forever to upload photos without DSL so I will try to do it tomorrow at work. I promise that the best hippo, giraffe and ellie shots are yet to come. I was able to get half a dozen photos of hippos yawning, thanks to the hippo hide at Kaingo, built right into the banks of the river (I also have a photo of the hippo hide).
Regarding the lack of leopards and lions, it was still a great trip in which I learned far more than I ever knew before.
Plus, I really cannot complain about the other guests this time around. There were times like I felt like I was a newbie, since I was often surrounded by others making their 5th or 10th safari visit. I think during my whole time there, I only met one other person at any of the lodges that was on her first trip to Africa, and the only thing that brought her, a Washington DC native, to Zambia, was the fact that she was meeting an old college friend whom is now living in Zambia.
June is definitely a great time to visit, while it is still green and the prices are excellent. Sure, I may have seen a few more leopards and lions had I waited, but I saw more than enough elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, birds of possibly hundreds of varieties, puku, impala, bushbuck, waterbuck, baboons, vervet? monkeys, genets, and other wildlife to more than quench my thirst.
Hope you all like the photos and check back in a few days for the rest of them, although I will let you all know on this thread after I have posted them. At that time, I will also add commentary to each of the photos already posted.
Meanwhile, do yourselves a favor and book a Zambian safari!!!

It all looked gorgeous -- the landscape is different and the animals even look slightly different from those we saw in Botswana. The hippos -- wow, you were so close and there were SO MANY! Zambia looks great.

Great photo album...what a fabulous first shot of the little boy. It could have been a cover for a magazine. I loved the photos, especially the full moon shots and of course, the animals. Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks for sharing.

Reviewed the pics again after reading your comment below:
"See if you can spot the picture of the aroused elephant! "
Now this should not be a "where's Waldo type of search given the following fact:
A male elephants fully erect penis weighs in at 27kg. The entire genitals weighs a staggering 50kg.....!!
I must be getting damn blind as I could not spot the "humbling" photo!!! *s*

Green Drake,
Maybe it is my fault that I possibly only got the elephant partly aroused! I'm not sure if he is weighing in at his full 27 kg's or not.
It is photo #80. Don't have too much fun with it!

Roccco...just went back and looked at photo #80... Just needed to print the photo as my PC screen is a bit dark.
Now there is a guy that does not need a 10x optical zoom lens aimed at him to capture his "thoughts".
