Road trip in Egypt
Hello Fedorites
I am hoping someone can link me up with a reputable company to hire a driver and car to take 2 of us from Aswan to Luxor. Is there a company you have used there? We aren't too enthused about taking a bus.
Also, I am still looking for a private tour guide for multiple days in both Cairo and Luxor. The one that has been previously suggested is not responding to the email link.
Thank you☺️

A ttrain ride through the Nile Valley is nicer than a not much faster taxi ride through the desert.
Egypt trains are very comfortable.

I can’t personally vouch for a specific company now, but when I visited Egypt I found that local hotel concierges and travel desks in Aswan were often the most reliable way to hire a private driver for a trip to Luxor — better than public taxis or buses. For a private tour guide in Cairo and Luxor, I’d recommend checking reputable Egypt-based tour agencies on platforms like TripAdvisor or Viator and looking for guides with many positive reviews, English fluency, and official licensing. That’s usually the safest and most dependable route.

I'm glad it wasn't bad for you, but my experience with the train in Egypt was awful. Mine was an overnight train so it might be better if it's just a few hours in the daytime. On my train, the bathroom was beyond filthy. We're talking urine sloshing around on the floor and nobody cleaned it. The people ignored the no smoking signs and smoked all night. This was in First Class, BTW.
Another person i know took the sleeper train and it was better. Personally, I recommended flying.

I had the same issue on my trip, and hiring a private driver made the journey much easier. There are several reliable local operators in Aswan who offer car + driver services for the Aswan–Luxor route—just make sure to book a licensed tourist driver. For Cairo and Luxor guides, I’d suggest reaching out to a few more recommended guides on travel forums or WhatsApp—responses can be slow by email. A good private guide really improves the experience.
