You should know that it is minimum 13 hours hanging in the air from JFK to Jo'burg and there is a 6 - 8 hour time difference. When you arrive you are going to need a day at least to get adjusted. Sun City - well if you golf - otherwise save your money for Las Vegas cause that is pretty much what the non golf part of Sun City is all about. Pilanesberg is great. So is Kruger or Kapama or Garonga. Garonga is super for honeymoons - more set up for that type of thing than the others. If you want to see the big five - lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos - Kruger and Kapama have them or you can find out which other reserves have them on the SA search engine - ananzi.co.za and September - October there is usually very nice weather. Some places advertize 'tame' lions etc. That is a relative term - they are maybe more accustomed to humans but they are not tame in the same way a collie or kitten are so treat them with same respect you would any other wild animal. Hope you have a super honeymoon. I think you will do like so many of us North Americans do - fall in love with this country.

I am finding everyone's info to be very helpful as I plan my honeymoon for late Oct into Nov. I have 2 weeks. How should I divide up my time? I am thinking of doing Cape Town, game reserve, wine region, Garden Rte, Plettenberg(sp?) Bay. Is this too much? Thanks!

We just returned from our honeymoon in SA. We spent 14 days - 2 nts in Cape Town, 1 nt on the Blue Train, 2 nts in Joburg, 2 nts in Tanda Tula (luxury tented camp), 3 nts at Mala Mala and 2 nts at Sun City. We loved SA and cannot wait to return. We like every place we stayed but from very best overall expereince to good we'd rate in the following order: #1 Tanda Tula in Timbavati reserve, #2 Blue Train, #3 tie bew Palace of the Lost City in Sun City and V&A Hotel in Cape Town, #4 Harry's Camp at Mala Mala and #5 Westcliffe in Joburg. Please note Mala was GREAT for animals!!!!! Enjoy - ours was a dreamy honeymoon. Met folks who stayed ay Leopard HIlls and loved it too. If you have any questions e-mail me.

RJ, we visited all three countries, Mauritius, Seychelles and Maldives.

Maldives wins hands down.

We went to Seychells once and it was more than enough. Once to Mauritius but it got so cild that we couldn't swima and dive
But Maldives was a paradise. we hope to return there soon

Sarah,
My husband and I just returned from our 2 week honeymoon in SA and wish we had more time. It is beautiful. Spend as much time there as possible. You will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I would visit Plettenberg for beaches; look into staying at Tsala while in Plett (www.Tsala.com). We did safari for 3 nights (plenty of time) at Sabi Sabi's Earth Lodge. Excellent accomodations, service, food, and game viewing. I, personally, would skip Sun City and spend all of your time in SA. It has everything you could possibly want: great food, wineries, mountains, hiking, swimming, surfing, sailing, etc... Please email me if I can be of further assistance to you (hotels, restaurants, etc...). Have fun! Juli
