This link should answer many of your questions. Since you included your email, beware of unscrupulous agents that might contact you. Feel free to post any itineraries and companies you come up with.

Unlike a private trip for 2, a solo trip is more expensive than a group departure. It is much more expensive if it is just you and the guide--typical of East Africa. It is somewhat more expensive if you fly from camp to camp and join others at each camp in the vehicle--as is typical in Southern Africa. Still, if you can afford it and are happy with your own company, it may be well worth your money. Sometimes I mix and match, doing some private and some group.
The first questions are:
When do you plan to travel?
Do you have a length of trip/budget in mind?
You will have that trip of a lifetime and there are lots of people here who can help you get there.
As many of us have found, it turns out to be the first trip of a travel love affair.

My finace and I just got back from Tanzania seeing the great migration, also visited a Masai village. You should look at the web site of our agent.
www.masaitravel.com
They put together some great trips including airfare that use the same 4 star places as other companies but we found at a lot lower price.
They use a local company Simba Tours, I would recommend our guide, Sham.
Tanzania will give you the "Out of Africa" type of experience.
We are planning our wedding in South Africa in the Sabi Sands area which has great game viewing which gives you the opportunity to get closer to the animals, but not the great open savanah like the Serengeti.
Good luck.

Try African Travel based in Glendale, California. They specialize in African safaris. I went on a 2 week trip to South Africa, Botswana and Zambia and it was the best trip I've ever taken. They took care of every detail. www.africantravelinc.com for details on itineraries.
Do a lot of research before booking and have a great time!
