One week in Cairo...???

I am a female solo traveling around Cairo August 19-26. Any locals or fellow travelers going to be in the area around this time? I am looking for someone to do day trips with...possibly scuba dive in Dahab/Sharm, desert tours, Luxor day trip, and the pyramids of course! Or any suggestions or tips?

One tip - you can't really do scuba diving as a day trip, because you shouldn't fly for 24 hours after diving.

Also, Luxor would be better as an overnight trip because it's so incredibly hot in August that you'll want to do you sightseeing in the very early morning -- if you fly in, you won't be there early enough.

This shouldn't stop you, but it will slow you down - Ramadan will be in full swing by the time you are here. Not the optimum time to be in Egypt to site-see in the dead of summer.
