I must have been nipping at the bubbly too early yesterday. Typos: "I S'POSE it's inevitable." "Having to follow the lead." "Bought me a postcard." "She was a BLUR."
I'm no typist!

I'm still at it!!! I don't know why I am having such a hard time picking two lodges. My friend just returned from Africa and stayed at the Royal Malawane and loved it. Would it make sense to stay there and another lodge in Sabi Sands or is that still to close??

The Royal Malewane, as you likely know, is next to the Timbavati Reserve which of course is a little north of Sabi Sand Reserve. That's fine, to get really really different you need to leave SA. And if you want 6-7 days in safari camp you should do 2 camps.

So, all that being said, you still want 10 days, right? Including Cape Town. Then do 3 days CT, 1 day travel to safari, 3 days R. Malewane, and 3 days Sabi Sand. Do Sabi Sand last, otherwise at other places you will be saying - I wish we were back at Sabi Sand. Safari Sabi Sand at Londolozi, or Singita, or Mala Mala Rattrays,or Leopard Hills.

ps - Your friend who went to R. Malewane, what other safari camps did/have they been to for comparison? Safari camps are extremely different than any other experience I know of. A person who has visited only one good camp will exclaim it as the -best camp ever- and talk about the rest of their life!!!

You are having a hard time picking two lodges just as it is hard to pick two scoops of ice cream flavors from the selection of 31. You know there are about 8 you definitely do not want, but that leaves many more excellent options to choose from.

It's not like there is a one right combination.

Tom you may be right about my friend...R Malewane was the most luxurious place they stayed and they stayed there first!!! After that they went to Okavango Delta. Maybe I should just stay in two great places in Sabi Sands to break it up but still have great two awesome places to stay.

BB - That's what I'd recommend for you, two great Sabi Sand camps, 3 nights each. Will make travel between them and to/from JNB and arrangements so quick and easy.
