I read this book on my recent flight to Africa. We were finishing our trip in Botswana, so it seemed appropriate. It was such a great story and now I can't wait to read the other ones! I read an article recently (can't remember where) about how people will go to Gabarone to see the places mentioned in the books and many people there don't know what theyh are talking about. But there are some who are doing some tours based on the books.

Thanks, sandi, for the mention of finding Roibos tea in the states. I will have to see if I can find it. Fortunately, Maryna at Nxabega (I learned how to say that name with the click and everything!) gave me a stock of tea in case I didn't have time to get any in the airport - I didn't. Now I just wish I could find passion fruit! I had it every single day no matter where I was in Southern Africa! Maybe that's why I didn't gain much weight!

Just the most charming stories aren't they. i see robioos tea at Safeway even. and Trader Joes.

Tour base on this series is unappealing to me as I think it's a set up for disappointment.

When I was in Italy I met an expat American (she has lived there over 20 years) who was frustrated with groups the wanted the "under the tuscan sun" experience and went away disgruntled as they did not get it. How sad not to have enjoyed Tuscany because of that!

Go and explore on your own and write about your own unique experiences, fellow travellers!

What a great place to spend a honeymoon. And I guess I'll have to make a trip to Trader Joes and see if the ones near me have Roibos tea.

For anyone that gets BBC2, tonight they are showing a programme on the "real" No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency:
