Morocco - women traveling alone
My sister and I are thinking of traveling to Morocco, but have heard that it's not safe for women traveling alone. Any thoughts?
We were hoping to hire car and driver to take us from Marrakesh to Essaouria and other towns on the coast. Thoughts on whether we would be safe?
Thanks!

I traveled in Morocco both on a tour and on my own - I'm female and over 60. I went from Marrakesh to Essaouira by public bus, and stayed a couple of nights there, with no problems whatsoever. Worry about the need to bargain, not about safety - although take the usual precautions to keep your valuables secure, and dress conservatively.

My husband and I just returned from Morocco a little over a week ago. While there we met some women travelling solo and they said they had no problems and were having a great time. I agree with thursdaysd that you really should dress conservatively. I suggest long skirts or long pants and long sleeve shirts. Hope you have as good a time as we did!

I met several European women (young and old) travelling alone around Marrakech and they said no problem with that. One told me she was there for about 11th time. I confirm what others have told you here: dress conservatively and don't be afraid to bargain - never accept the first price they quote.
