how do I get from Amman to Cairo?
I'm coming up with a very long bus trip, getting from Jordan to Egypt, and I don't want to go through Israel and all the hassles that go along with that. I want to leave either from Madaba or Amman and fly to Cairo.
I'll be coming from Cairo to Jordan through Aqaba, Wadi Rum, Petra and Madaba, so I don't want to retrace my steps. Somewhere I read that flights have been postponed from Amman to Cairo with terrorist threats. True? What are my options?

Call Royal Jordanian or Egypt Air and inquire. They'll tell you whether the flights have been postponed. If there had been a postponement it might have been for a few days. Can't imagine there would be no flights between these two cities. Its a 1-hr flight and certainly better than retracing of heading into Israel.

We are booked with Royal Jordanian for early April. No suggestion that the flight is cancelled.
But their Web site doesn't seem to be working at the moment, which is some cause for concern. When I ask for a schedule I get a page with what appears to be an apology at the top, but I can' see it clearly.

We just returned from Egypt and Jordan. We went from Amman to Cairo on Friday March 31 on Egypt Air. No problem. We had a driver from Petra to Amman airport, what a beautiful drive. there are 2 ways to go, ask for the scenic way, the King's Road. You can go to many historical places along the way. The Dead Sea and Mt. Nebo for example. A word of caution, if you are taking the "fast ferry" from Nuweiba to Aqaba, be advised that it is not fast. It should take one hour but regularly takes 5-7.
