Little Kwara - Photos

I do have some of the first photos known to mankind of Little Kwara.

If anybody is interested, drop me an e-mail and I will forward a copy. It does look like a great camp.

Can't you pop them into an online gallery for us, Rocco?

Kavey,

I have a BETTER idea...I will e-mail the photos to you, and YOU may pop them in an online gallery!

You will have the photos in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

As you know, your emails didn't work - I couldn't access any of the images...
Look forward to your either emailing them again or putting them online where those interested can access them.

Although this is of little help to the imagination challenged, here is what Little Kwara looks like...nice elevated oversized light green canvas tents, with numerous windows that zip open, a huge sliding? double door entry/exit with screen, hard wood floors in the tent, a nightstand beside each bed, a chest? at the foot of each bed, a couple wooden chairs that fit very comfortably within the room, a very nice wood deck with a couple oversized wood chairs with comfortable looking handrests. No photos of the bathrooms yet, unfortunately.

The lounge area is very nice...wood flooring with numerous cutouts to allow existing trees to become part of the lounge area, lanterns are hung all throughout the lounge, and this lends it a nice authentic African bushcamp feel to it.

Very nice but not over the top luxury. I know that I will be very comfortable with this camp when I visit in November.

I am still playing around with the photographs trying to get them to work short of yet downloading onto Kodak Gallery.

Well, the photos did work to one Fodorite I mailed, so I guess it all depends on your internet browser, windows version or other things.

I am told that it is very similar to Kwando Lebala.

Ok, here goes.........i'll do my best to keep you guessing, until the Kodak gallery works.

The description of the tents Rocco gave you, and my impression of his pictures......are that the tents are very close to what is on hand at Lebala. Now, i just saw the images of the bedroom area. Didnt see the bathroom, foyer area of the tent etc etc.,

The dining area looks similar to most Kwando camps, with similar coffee hot flasks etc etc., elevated wooden deck is very nice.

The lounge area looks neat. Not too cluttered, with minimum furniture. However, i feel the lounge area is still a work in progress. There are some views of open flood plains in front of it. Lounge itself looks nice. However, the views from Kwara main camp, may be hard to match.

Now, all i did is......make you more curious to see a glimpse?

I know of somebody who's had a bad experience over Little Kwara. He'd been booked in for quite a while as one of the first clients to experience the new camp; then they gave him a week's notice that it wouldn't be ready in time, and offered him alternative camps to go to. The timing was such that he had little choice but to accept. One of the alternatives was so far below par that he complained. I won't name the camp because the company has done the right thing and promised him free accommodation at Little Kwara on another occasion. But a week's notice is a pretty poor show. I wonder how many other people were affected?

Hari,

Yes, by all means, please feel free to share the photos. Also, please feel free to upload onto a gallery for other Fodorites to see.

Rocco,

HEHEEEHE!!! Thanks. Yes, will try and get to upload it.

Btw, any fodorites wanting to see the pics....can also email me at [email protected] i will forward Rocco's pics.

John,

They have been experiencing the delays because the original location was not approved by the Botswana parks dept as it was found to be in the Moremi reserve itself.

Then they got the dates wrong as the construction delays were brought on by the summer rains. However, yes....a week's notice isn't a good thing.

I know a couple of fodorites were accomodated at Kwara main camp because Little K was not ready in time. Game viewing being the same.....i guess all's well!!! Still, Little K is not going to be anywhere along the lines of Vumbura plains/Singita etc etc., i dont think that's their target clientale.
