Hi

I'm hoping for some recommendations for a hotel in Johannesburg. We fly in from Cape Town to JNB early evening before leaving early the following morning to Mozambique from Lanseria Airport (NW of Jo’burg I think?). Then a week later we return to Lanseria and have about 24 hours before leaving from Jo’burg International again. Would consider 2 different hotels but would ideally like to leave luggage at the hotel for the week (rather than at the airport) if this is possible.

Key criteria is:
Easy access to Lanseria - as we have to be there by 6am.
If it’s the same hotel both nights then a left luggage facility would be good.
Budget would be no more than £75 ($130) for the room. Preferably less – we’re splurging elsewhere and this is really only a place to crash due to airline connections.
We’re not that bothered about sightseeing etc. Near some shops/markets/a decent restaurant would be nice but we’ll probably just be relaxing around the hotel.

Any suggestions?

Have your agent recommend a couple lodges in Honeydew. Several excellent choices. If you have spare time, there are sites to see and excellent places to eat. Its out of the urban sprawl, but near the freeway and Lanseria.

Garden Lodge is an inexpensive alternative, family run lodge near Heia Safari Ranch. I believe it is R150-R200pp . It is not a classy place but nice and quiet. You would need to enquire about transportation to Lanseria A/P -no more than 15 minutes away
and Jo'bg A/P,common to have a guy who runs a limo service in a particular area that is reliable.If you get no help there, I may have a tel. number of one I use when there (Randburg-Jo'bg A/P).

I just stayed at the Pretoria Sheraton. Good hotel and only R585 including breakfast. we went to the lion park which is near Lanseria and its probably about 30 min drive from Pretoria.
