Israeli Tour Guides
My husband and I will be in Israel for the first time this December. We would like to find a guide to pick us up at our hotel in Jerusalem for a sunrise hike up Masada followed by a visit to the Dead Sea. We would like to do this on a Saturday, which may make finding a guide more problematic. I have read through old forums (many seem old) and the email addresses for private guides (such as Arnon Eschel and Menachem do not work). Can anybody recommend a wonderful guide? We would be amenable to a small group tour. Also, would a sunset visit be as special as a sunrise one?

The TripAdvisor forum has a thread about recommended guides/
A trip to Massada should be combined with a visit to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Qumran and a dip in the Sea.
Alternatively, "Abraham Tours" runs a Massada Sunrise Tour every Saturday moring:

Note that this is a transportation only tour.

I used Abraham tours for a two day trip to Jordan and was very pleased.
For a trip to the Dead Sea/Masada and also another day trip to Bethlehem we used Sam Salem who came highly recommended on trip advisor. He is not a 'licenced' guide, but doing it for many years, very lovely man with lots of information and will tailor a trip to your needs. He has a nice vehicle too. We used him last October.
