Poll - Where in the world...
...should we go for our honeymoon? I posted about S. Africa recently, but we're still not sure...thanks for your help!
Our parameters:
- Leaving on and around June 28th from either LAX or JFK
- Want to spend ten full non-travel days
- Want to spend no more than 7k
- Prefer cities/architecture/culture/good food over wilderness/country although we like some pretty nature
- Want to go somewhere neither of us have been, and somewhere outside of North America
- Places we've been: Ireland, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, Kenya, Thailand

Here is a long shot. Except maybe for the food a trip to Egypt or better yet an Israel/Egypt would address several of the interests you listed. By nontravel days I trust you meant incounty and not the there and back. Dick

rsnyder - hit the right one - Egypt. Most standard Egyptian trips are about 9-10/days and there is certainly plenty of art, architecture, culture, decent food, some wilderness and you can definitely do this within budget.
The only issue is that travel end June when it is very hot. Granted your hotels will be a/c and have pools; cabins on Nile Cruise boats are a/c and have small pools. it's only during the touring that you're in the "hot" - but it's dry heat!!! And evening temps will drop a few degrees.
Trying to do both Israel and Egypt would not allow you to do enough in either country - but maybe you can do Cairo & Luxor (5dys), then Jerusalem & Tel Aviv (or Haifa)(5dys) - plenty of Art and History in the latter, and great wilderness, as well.
An alternate would be Egypt & some Jordan, you can do a shorter Cruise on the Nile and then 2-dys in Jordan so as to visit Petra and Jerash/Amman.
Judy_from_Calgary's suggestion of Turkey is also a good one, and while you'd be able to see most areas in Western Turkey (between Cappadoccia and the Aegean Coast [of course, including Istanbul) - with 10 days, something would have to be eliminated, but most places are certainly doable. Here too plenty of art, architecture, wilderness.
The weather situation in Israel, Jordan and Turkey will also be relatively hot when spending time outdoors, but indoors will be cool.
And all of the above can almost certainly be done within your budget.
These should all be considered.

Lots of good ideas....for first honeymoons, second honeymoons, third honeymooons....thanks so much! I will have to start a "to visit" list next to my "to read" list, "to watch" list, etc.
