GPS - of course you're kiddin' I don't even own a cellphone.
Rustic, moi? Except for Richard's which is lux rustic, the others are lux. Hey, you're talking to a fru-fru gal. I even checked for those that have sufficient power for a hair dryer. Yeh, I know what you're probably thinking.
Sharon - I'd love to "pop over" for a drink, but even this is too tight a schedule for me... but client's call!
Thanks all!

Desert Rose... so interesting! Can I ask, are you planning to do any trips from there or just hang out? Have you been before?
And how much is a private charter up there from Nairobi?
(Just in case a couple of extra days vacation drop into my lap this December)

We sure hope to do day-trips while at Desert Rose. Where, we're not certain. And though just chilling at their pool is enticing, it defeats the purpose. At end May, there may still be rain, so weather dependent, will determine where we go. You can be sure, Lake Turkana itself, is on the list. And probably a desert safari. I'd amaze myself to get atop another camel, but, why not? It was rather fun last year.
Oh, the flights to DR - tres, tres expensive. It's about $1,600-$1,700 return for two pax. We're actually flying a scheduled flight NBO/Nanyuki then picking up the Charter... it saved us a few $$, but not much. So the figure combines both the scheduled and charter price. Believe the straight charter from NBO is a bit higher.
Flight time w/connection in Nanyuki is 2/hrs., then about a 30-min drive to the camp.
Hair dryer power at DR, Finch Hatton's and Shompole (the latter, when the generator is on). Insufficient power at Richard's or even Saruni. Believe, I'll survive the last two days. It wasn't even an unusual request. Seems there are fru-fru gals out there.

Wow Sandi, that flight is not cheap is it? I tried to think of it as $200 per hour and it didn't sound so bad, but perhaps we'll just have to take the camels up there a la Wilfred Thesiger... ;-) Do hope you make a little camel safari - it really does look like a great experience - although I don't think they have anywhere to plug in a hairdryer
Don't worry Nyamera, I already know all about Mr. Thesiger - he's not a potential new hero, but I do like reading about his trips.
