I Don't Want to go Home
I'm in Nairobi at the moment and my plane home is leaving Thursday morning. Does any Fodorite have an idea about what I could do to be able to stay? If this sounds desperate i's because it is.
Thanks

My wife cried our last night in Kenya she loved it so much and didn't want to go home. It is definitely addicting.
But we did return, and immediately started thinking about and planning our next trip. You can return. It will be there waiting for you.

Sorry Nyamera, no ideas, but I know just how you feel, leaving Africa is like ripping my heart out- and it wasn't ANY easier this time~!~~ I guess that is what keeps us going back, and enjoying the planning so very much. I personally am counting down until I can retire, and make it a permanent move. Visiting the States sounds much better to me, and I sure don't think I will cry when it is time to go back to Africa after a visit!

Thanks for feeling my pain. Aby, elementary - yes, but the proposals I get all the time is about taking them to Sweden. The "White Maasai" had a successful business in her home country to "eat from" until that money finished and then she started what could have been a successful business in Kenya if her husband hadn't been so "disturbed". It's highly unlikely that I'll ever be able to retire and I don't know if I'll be able to return to Kenya. I'm thinking about making a deal with the street hustlers paying them a certain sum if they find me a rich Kenyan.

If you get a chance have a look at this entry on Safaritalk:
"Meet Lori Bergemann, Executive Director of Amara Conservation - Kenya"
http://safaritalk.net/index.php?showtopic=590
And watch her video. Here's someone who made that step to live in Kenya and set up a conservation group which is making a difference on the ground. Inspirational. If she can do it why not you?
