Help with itinerary for a first time visitor to Africa, please!

Hi all,

I have been reading these posts for quite some time and they have been so helpful! I posted an itinerary a while back but didn't get much feedback so I'm trying again now that I have something more specific. This is from Access2Tanzania for 2 people in June 2009:

Day 1: Arrive in Arusha. Karama lodge overnight
Day 2-4: Tarangire. Whistling Thorn Camp
Day 5-6: Lake Manyara/Ngorongoro. Bougainvillea Safari Lodge
Day 7-8: Serengeti. Serengeti Tented Camp
Day 9-10: Serengeti. Serengeti Sopa

This is priced at 4300 pp (estimating prices for 2009) which includes a hot air balloon safari and flight back to Arusha.

I would love some feedback on price, choice of accomodations, and any opinions in general. Thanks!

There are some fairly negative reviews of Serengeti Tented Camp on the Tripadvisor TZ forum http://tinyurl.com/3yna9s

I think it was your post I read about dealing with the suspense. I was so glad someone else was going through it so far ahead of time!

On another noted, based on negative feedback about the Serengeti Tented Lodge, I have looked up both Mbuzi Mawe and Kirurumu Serengeti Tented Camps. They are somewhat more expensive, although I'm not sure how much more. But if they were great, I would be willing to think about it...

Thanks! --Barbra

What do people think about the Kirurumu Serengeti Tented Camp? It seems I can only find feedback on the Kirurumu Camp at Lake Manyara. Should I assume the quality is similar?

Thanks! --Barbra

Kirurumu Serengeti is more expensive than Manyara.
