I think it's the tse tse fly traps that are dark blue but I haven't seen one myself.

The only place I've found dust to be problematic (I wear contacts) was Amboseli in the dry season.

...when the sun reflects off of them, they can look dark blue! which is the closest color to what we humans should avoid wearing

besides, dark colors will show dirt (or dust!!! )

Ok I think I figured this out - expect both but be very elated if lucky enough not to encounter flies or dust!
