i am searching for a recommended company for my safari trip at the end of the year. Wanting to go see the gorillas and cover east Africa safaris. Hoping for a small group safari.

How many people in your party, how many days do you have available (excluding travel time there), what's your budget per person (excluding airfare from home), when do you want to go and what are your interests? Chances are you could do a private safari and avoid being saddled with having to do a safari with a group of strangers! I'd need to know more though...

We used Essential Africa (www.essentialafrica.co.za). they can tailor a private safari for you that will do exactly what you want. They are a great company and well worth every penny but they are not cheap. If you can afford the price tag they are one of the best safe companies in all of Africa.
