Drive or Fly???

I have been giving very different drive times between Olakira and Sayari(3 hours and 6 hours) Could anyone tell me the approximate drive time and it it would be better to fly?

As mentioned in earlier thread, drive time from Olakira/Seronera to Sayari/Kogatende is about 3-3.5/hrs straight out. But actual time would depend on how often you stop for game viewing. It's a game drive, not unlike going out any morning for a game drive... often 2-3hrs. In this case you are heading to your next destination.

And, I'll repeat... if flying you'll be using Sayari guide/vehicles on shared basis with other guests and your daily room rate will be higher than driving and having your own guide/vehicle for game drives.

If you have extra money to burn... fly, but I sure don't believe it's necessary.

Sandi,

Thanks again for the information. We are looking between two companies and so course one is saying that the other is giving us misinformation. I was also told by the one company that you could not have your own private guide/vehicle in Sayari. That sounds not to be true from your experience. Also are you aware if you are able to have your own private guide in Oliver's Camp and Olakira or do you have to use their guides?

Sayari is available on a FB-full-board basis using your own guide/vehicle and a GP-game package basis using camp guide/vehicle. The latter price per nite is higher than the former.

You can also use your own guide/vehicle on a FB basis at both Olakira and Oliver's.

Sandi- Do you have any experience with Good Earth Safaris and would you recommend them. We want to make sure that the guides are good as they can make or break a trip in our experience.

I know you can definitely have your own driver/ vehicle at Oliver's Camp (which we did last year, through Sandi/ Africa Serendipity and Roy). Given that Sayari is owned by same people, I imagine the same holds true there, though we flew in and used their guide/ shared vehicle.

For Oliver's I wish we'd gone with the camp's guide as we didn't really like the private guide we ended up with.

Our Sayari guide (whose name I can't recall) was great and we had a nice visit though didn't love the camp half as much as others on the trip (including Olivers)
