I have just seen this edition of Inside Africa. It featured a debate about canned hunting as you know with Chris Mercer arguing against and a lion breeder and hunter arguing for. One of the things to come out of this was the problem that when the new regs come into affect in Jan next year there will be a lot of captive bred lions that will not be a revenue earner for the owners: what will happen to them? The breeder said that many will die which seems even more pointless than ending up as a trophy for a rich hunter.
There was also a feature on The Cheetah Conservation Fund with Dr Laurie Marker and her work (who I am working with on Safaritalk) and also a report on the gorillas in the DRC.
A small feature on Kenya and the encroachment of human populations on places such as the Nairobi National Park and how the Maasai as landlords are realising the potential of the tourist trade.
It is worth seeing but I do agree the images of the lions being shot are grim. But these images need to be seen to affect any change.
