Christmas in Marrakech

Does anyone recommend this? Boyfriend (Australian) and I (Canadian) would like to go somewhere interesting for Christmas. We just want to get away from the UK, travel to somewhere interesting where life carries on despite it being 25 December!!

We're very easygoing and open to any suggestions!

Thanks a mil

AllyPally,
Don't know answers but am interested in them too...
I went to Morocco as my first solo trip (with a group tour but no people I knew) and I loved it. I was 19.
I'd love to go back with hubby and have also considered it for a Christmas trip.
Hoping other readers have some good advice for you that I can piggyback!

Kavey (also in London - as I assume you are from your name?)

Hi Kavey

Yes, from London! I have racked my brains thinking of somewhere close yet really interesting to go and my main criterion has been that it is non-Christian (i.e. I don't want everything closed on Christmas Day!) Most of my past Xmases haven't worked out for one reason or another and this year I jsut want to get away. Have only just started researching the riads - which one to pick!!

I think I have some bookmarks for riads as well as some newspaper clippings filed away in my box...

Please feel welcome to email me for info.

Try this:
http://www.terremaroc.com/bloc/riad/.../gb/index.html
The Riad Chouia Chouia is a gorgeously remodeled riad fun by a very outgoing young Frenchman named Olivier; the riad guests tend to be younger than average (for a riad, which is definitely not a youth hostel!); the riad is elegant but less expensive than most.
